Titlu Job: Linux & Database Specialist
We have a client since september 2010 and we are looking for a new administrator/programmer and dataabse specialist to be available through the week for about 70-80% of your time.
This is a very specific job and we are looking for somebody who wants to work with this client for years to come. In the beginning we offer two (2) months time to get into the project.
WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
- The client sells archives to communities in the Netherlands. Every community (like Brasov) in the Netherlands needs to archive data. Since everybody is online these days, the websites of the clients are being archived using waybackmachine, SOLR for searching, de-duplicator to make the file size smaller and to make sure existing content is not crawled everytime.
- Archives are basically copies of the websites. So using waybackmachine a Dutch customer can view content from years ago as well as from last week and sometimes from yesterday (daily crawls)
- Archives are being crawled: Once (first time) and after that some parts are weekly crawls and some are daily crawls (like news)
- Currently our client has some 100 clients for which the data are crawled. They will grow further towards some 200 expected clients.
CURRENT STATUS OF THE PROJECT
- Crawling is working pretty good
- Some issues still with de-duplicator software
- Some issues still with the Linux servers
WHAT KNOWLEDGE DO YOU HAVE?
- Extensive knowlegde of Linux servers
- Willingness to get to know software such as:
1/ SOLR
2/ HERITRIX Database
3/ WAYBACK MAchine
4/ DE-DUPLICATOR Software
You have good knowledge of English. You will work directly with the client and contact is usually through Skype.
You are available through the week preferably in the daytime. Besides that you have a lot of freedom to do your job on other hours. Availability through the day is for the client to contact you and discuss steps, deadlines and specifications.
We pay a fixed salary or we can negotiate a hourly based salary with a minimum of 100 hours. We expect that you need another half (1/2) year to fix some of the open issues. After that time the job will mostly consist of administration and management of the project.
