Titlu Job: Frontend developer for Danish FinTech startup

We are Paylike, a Danish startup looking for a frontend programmer to help us build, expand, and maintain our tech portfolio including projects such as paylike.io. You’ll get a top-tier salary on level with our backenders, the ability to work remotely, and huge influence on both the projects you work on from planning to deployment. You are free to work from anywhere and on any schedule you prefer. The job is full time, but with an option to start as part time in a period of transition. The work You will be thinking about state management, asynchronous events, race conditions, modularization and creating a lot of small, single purpose packages. This is not a designers job. You might find yourself writing CSS from time to time, but that’s because you know better than a designer how to write semantic markup and structure a stylesheet. We try to pick the right tool for the job, but still have some preferences based on what has worked well in the past. Here are some of them: - Single page web apps - API-only backends (Node.js + MongoDb) - Git (GitHub - issues and pull requests for code review) - React (currently experimenting with virtual-dom) - Browserify, stylus, post-css, pug (what eases your job) - Small toolchain approach (no Gulp, Grunt, etc.) What we expect from you We expect you to research solutions and assess their properties, be it design patterns, new browser APIs or open source software. You are the kind of person that gets to the bottom of a problem before solving it. When you read a bug description for your project, most of the time, you know right away where the problem is. You pay attention to detail and take pride in writing good code. Given enough time, you can solve any problem whether it being in your domain or not. You should have a basic sense of good UI and UX, but we do not expect you to create anything “beautiful” - we hire designers for that. Minimum skill level indications: - You can explain two-way-binding and unidirectional flow. - You know there’s a difference between html properties and attributes. - You are fluent and confident in JavaScript. - HTML and CSS are long time friends and you can turn any design into reality, within the boundaries of what’s possible. - Branching, rebasing, merging and pull requests are second nature. - You can create a website in vanilla HTML, CSS and JavaScript. The job and the team You will join a small and agile team in our well-funded startup. Our headquarter is based in Aarhus, Denmark. We keep an informal tone and value inputs from all team members when we openly discuss the direction of projects. The job is remote but we will be able to sponsor a coworking spot. We do have a long term goal to establish an office in Cluj-Napoca or Timisoara in which you would be offered a desk if interested. Apply now Please include links for: websites, projects, GitHub account, Stack Overflow, and similar. Tell us about something you have created, found useful, challenging or interesting and why. What is the latest or most interesting problem that kept you awake at night, how did you solve it (maybe you didn’t yet), which thoughts did/do you have about it? Send your application to hello@paylike.io and we’ll get right back to you. The deadline for applying is the 28th of February 2017. Some travel is required, but it can be limited to 1-2 times per year.
