Zapoint, Inc., a Boston, MA, USA based internet startup having a development center in Romania is currently looking for an outstanding front end web developer. You will be working remotely (from Romania) creating high-quality, web standards compliant xHTML and CSS code for Zapoint's suite of webcruitment(tm) online career and goals management web applications and will be interacting primarily with our CTO / Chief Internet Strategist as well as with our Lead Software Engineer (based in Romania). Our development team is spread out all over Romania, the US and the United Kingdom and collaborates mostly online, therefore, relocation will not be necessary for this position. This is an outstanding opportunity to work in a dynamic startup environment surrounded by smart and experienced internet engineers and entrepreneurs and to use state of the art open-source web technologies. We favor agile development methodologies, love Ruby on Rails and offer an excellent compensation package (including stock options), flexible working hours, as well as a fun action-packed working environment. The ideal candidate must posses: - excellent knowledge of html, xhtml, css, table-less design practices, strict and transitional doctypes. - excellent knowledge of browser behavior and html code rendering peculiarities for Firefox 1.5+, IE6, IE7, Safari 2&3 and Opera 9. - ability to test frontend work under both Mac OS and Windows environments. - good work ethic and ability to meet and exceed deadlines. - very good communication skills in Romanian and decent English speaking ability. While not required, the following skills would represent an advantage: - knowledge of JavaScript, AJAX, Prototype and Script.aculo.us. - knowledge of and experience with the Ruby on Rails framework or other MVC frameworks. For this position, experience with RoR controllers and models is not necessary, however, experience in manipulating Ruby on Rails views as well as experience in using the main RoR helpers (i.e. link_to) would help you a great deal as all our applications are developed in RoR. - knowledge of Subversion(SVN) and Trac. We will nevertheless provide training on SVN if you have not used it before as its basic functions can probably be picked up in a couple of hours. - previous Flash and ActionScript experience.
